ARTS Vocational Interest Group
Leader: Joan Portel
The Arts Vocational Interest Group (AVIG) is a community of like-minded individuals, who have come to a place in their lives where meaningful participation in the creative process (the arts) is a goal, even a passion. For those at mid-life and beyond, time devoted to connecting with the nature and meaning of creativity, through work that is paid or unpaid, is time well spent.
As a community of creative individuals, the AVIG will promote artists and all those who seek a creative life, and provide:
- Shared opportunities to network, work, exhibit
- Inspirational sharing through guest speakers
- Resources focused on special projects, art topics, financial supports, shared space.
- An ongoing dialogue, including on-line ‘threads’ via the SHiFT website, where inspiration and ideas can modulate, take root, and grow.
- Avenues for development of career paths in the arts
- A broad interest database for building connections, in local, regional and state communities.
