Here are the answers to a few of the most commonly asked questions about the SHiFT Time Bank.


Why Should I Join?

 

A few reasons:

  • It’s a great way to post an "ad" for a service you could use, or one you want to offer.
  • In many cases, you'd pay money for the kinds of services you can purchase with Time Bank hours.
  • If you’re working on a SHiFT project, you can charge the Time Bank for your hours. 
  • You can donate your Time Bank Hours to other people who may need extra help.

What kind of info should I put into my Profile?

Whatever you want others to know.  Your vocational background, skills, and talents. Your interests, or things you’re passionate about. Add your photo, email address and other information, as you choose.

 

Will I have a tax problem at the end of the year?

SHiFT is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.  The IRS has given a private letter ruling to Time Banks acknowledging that these kinds of reciprocal exchanges will not be taxed.
